Scientific Research vs. Lies Part IV

Part 4 of the series. Here is part 1, part 2, and part 3

I care about the environment. But I also care about the human race. We must find a happy balance with the environment to survive. A main issue I have, is with the constant doom and gloom I hear from certain people and their hypocrisy. The actions of many involved in the whole second ice age/global warming/climate change debate do not inspire confidence. Much of what I see is not the actions of mature individuals, but remind more of children demanding attention. I ask for honest skeptical scientific research, not religious zealotry. In a free country the major decisions need public support. The actions of a few "scientist" can thrown the question of the acts of all scientific honesty into question. The attacks on those who ask questions cause even more distrust and doubt.

Just like the man standing on the corner wearing a sandwich board that says: "THE WORLD WILL END TOMORROW," sooner or later more and more people will begin to question the claim. With Al Gore's recent purchase of ocean front property, it would appear that one of the high priests of the movement is not setting a very good example. Maybe he knows something or has lost his faith. It seems to me that this is another example of the sheer arrogance of the leadership of the whole cabal.

Scientific research is a time honored process of gathering facts, analyzing them, and developing a conclusion. Then allowing others to examine your methods, repeat any experiments, and develop conclusions. All information must be shared. Science is the relentless pursuit of the TRUTH. But after watching this whole affair of over 30 years, it is obvious to me that the initial step was to prove a theory. An honest scientific program would start with a simple statement, such as: What affect does human activity have on the ecosystem. But from my first exposure to climate research the question has been: What affect does carbon have on the ecosystem? These are two totally different questions. The former asks an open question, the latter starts with a conclusion. That being, that carbon is the target of the research which makes it easy to overlook and/or exclude any possible other final conclusion. Once you head down that path it is hard to be objective and all science goes out the window.

The litter bins of history are filled with false predictions and lies. There are a rash of new videos on the Internet that have been sanitized in an effort to restore faith in the Climate Change theories. We must have honest debate and research if we expect to identify and fix problems. Jumping to conclusions and solutions usually waste time, effort, and does real damage. I want our energies spent on finding solutions and by following blind paths we may overlook the real problems. But manipulating and destroying "bad" data because it does not fit your predetermined conclusion is criminal and endangers the faith that people have in those who are suppose to be smart enough to solve the world's problems.

There has also been a dangerous mix of science and politics. When you start to get politicians involved with anything you are going to find manipulation. Politician usually only care about the next election and their personal power. If they are paying for the research they are going to expect the outcome for which they paid. That is true the world over. Politics and power are the same no matter where you go in this world. If they don't get the results that are expected, criminal proceeding could follow. No researcher wants to lose his grant in this country or go to prison in another, just because the data did not support the original conclusion.

To be honest I don't know if carbon is really bad for the environment. As far as I'm concerned, the events that have occurred should make everyone question what is said by the IPCC or any climatologist. I do know that the leaking of those email did major damage to climate change research. The researchers have also damaged their own movement by using very unprofessional behavior and some down right shameful actions. It also doesn't help to have your major spokespeople living lifestyles that betray everything that they are trying to sell.

A coat of whitewash does not replace the underlying rotten fence. It only makes the fence look better. The facts that have become public about the IPCC report and the number of items that were not peer reviewed brings the entire organization into question. They seem to cherry pick anything that supported their conclusions, no matter the source or material value. This shows a major flaw in the integrate of not only the report, but all of the researchers who took part in its production. With this type of work I personally have no faith in anything produced by any of these so called scientist. If you trust someone who preforming this type of tricks, then all I can say is: I wish you would reconsider your outlook on life.

The rash of name calling and sniping that comes for the "believers" is troubling in its lack of reasoning. Today I was called a moron. Someone on twitter said "Pedro doensnt think man can affect the atmosphere and is therefore a moron." Well leaving the spelling and grammatical errors aside, (after all it was Twitter) I have to say that I don't think that I have ever uttered those words. I simply want proof and not from some group that seems to have a hard time distinguish the truth from lies. If you publish data knowing that it is not true then their is only one thing that I call it. The willful destruction of supporting data only proves that the results are false. Show me the proof. Don't ask me to support a lie.

This whole affair has set the entire climate research science back many years. Public opinion is a hard thing to rebuild. Just ask Tiger Woods. But the truth must be known. It is a shame that we have gone down this road. I want to see alternative fuels, but I fear that as long as we demonize those who are willing to look for answers, progress will be hard if not impossible. If we continue to tell people something that they see as a lie, support will not follow. This country is still a democratic republic and with elections occurring before the end of the year, may of the allies of the current status quo in the US Congress may be out of power permanently.
