Separating Church and State

Where in The Constitution are the words "separation of Church and State?" Christine O'Donnell asked this question in a debate last week and was attacked for being ignorant. Being familiar with and a major believer in the First Amendment, I know that those words do not appear in it or the rest of the Constitution. One of my very liberal friends was talking about how the "stupidity" and how unqualified she was for not knowing such a basic fact. I had to challenge him. Once I repeated the First Amendment, he then said; "well it means separation of Church and State." They did the same thing that they always do when they lose an argument, turned and walked away. This happens a lot. I've never pulled a Whoopi Goldberg on him, but it is a common end to conversations.

The idea that the words: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" means separation of Church and State is an amazing bit of imagination. The attack on Christianity that has been fought by the left in this country depends on the use of the idea that showing Christian faith is unconstitutional. But it doesn't take a constitutional scholar to read the words and understand what it means. For too long the Atheist have used the ignorance of many Americans to take away a basic human right away from us all. I don't care how you worship, even if it is nothing, as long as your faith doesn't interfere with my faith. That is the meaning of the First Amendment.

Any belief system that affects the actions of a person is a religion. The very first words are Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. But almost daily we see those who practice Atheism push their belief system on us all. They demand that the government remove Christianity and all public display of it from public display. It is not that they are willing to tolerate us, they threaten to sue whenever they see it. Christians are constantly attacked for their faith on the media outlets while Islam is protected.

As I first mentioned last week the phrase that they use is separation of Church and State. Since Christians go to churches this is an attack on Christians. They don't say Mosque and State, Temple and State, or Synagogue and State it is hard to deny that the target is not Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, or other faiths. I will go as far as saying that those who are pushing this agenda are well aware of the fragile state of their argument but think that they can destroy the Christian Church by using our beliefs and sense of fair play against us.

I've never heard of the ACLU suing to prevent Muslims from praying in public. In fact I seem to remember them suing to force schools to give Muslims time to pray. I also remember reports that the same schools that were sued to stop the teaching of Christian beliefs started to teach Islamic beliefs and their reason was: "Islam is not a religion. It is a cultural system. If a government school is not going to teach Christian faith but will teach Islamic faith, then this is a case of the government trying to establish a religion. This is a clear violation of the rights of the Christians. Those who wish us to believe their twisted view would deny us of "the free exercise thereof." Each time the ACLU sues to stop the free exercise of the Christian faith they violate the Constitutional rights of us all. They've won so many lawsuits by default that they have become arrogant.

Last week NPR the National Propaganda Radio showed their true colors again in a very public way. After taking millions of dollars from left wing financier George Soros, they fired a Juan Williams for expressing his opinion on a national program. He simply expressed the same view of many Americans. More and more Americans understand that Islam is more than a religion. It is a total social system. That includes dress, diet, and their own legal system based upon Sharia Law. When you see a person in full Islamic dress you have to wonder how deep their devotion goes. It is nothing more than basic human nature of self preservation to worry about your own safety. I must say that the Federal Government has done nothing in the last few years to make me feel more secure. The actions of NPR were meant to silence the discussion surrounding the intolerance in the Muslim faith. Their Political Correctness does not serve the citizen of this country. They only wish to push their twisted view on the world.

Wall of Misconception: Does the Separation of Church and State Mean the Separation of God and Government?
Does the Separation
of Church and State
Mean the Separation
of God and
Government?

A warning shot was fired this week to let the "left stream media" that they are required to stay on the straight and narrow path of left beliefs. It seems to have backfired. After many years of NPR attacking the America belief system with far left and progressive, hate, intolerance, and propaganda they may have finally crossed the line. They showed their arrogance in a way that upset even their liberal listeners. The uproar may finally force the government to stop pouring money into an organization that does not deserve public money. If what they do is so important then they should be able to sell advertisement and be self supporting like any other network. The idea that they must have government money to survive proves that they are not serving the public.

It is important to remember that the government has been promoting religion through many means. It is pushing Islam and Atheism. NPR and PBS, although considered "private" corporations, are extensions of the government. They depend on Federal and local government money and their founding under a mandate of the State means that they are a government outlet. They have had no reason to serve the public at large or provide fair and balance reporting. If you spend any time at listening to their programming, you will only hear left wing views. The entire episode this week shows that even someone as liberal as Juan Williams is not safe when he stepped outside their liberal views. He got to a taste of Liberal intolerance.

Now is the time for Christians to push back. We must reclaim our rights and silence those who have taken our right to freely exercise our beliefs. No matter what you believe you must see that those who are working to destroy this first of our enumerated rights, will eventually take away all of our rights if we don't stand up now. The idea that somehow the Constitution says that there is a separation of Church and State is insane. For too long we have been divided over petty disagreements. It is time that we accept that what we have in common is much greater then what is dividing us. We must stand up and be counted or we will be forever silenced. The Constitution does not contain the words "separation of Church and State" we can not allow these lies go unchallenged. It is time to stand up to the ACLU and make sure that they no longer deny us of our rights. Their actions are an attack on the basic principles that make this country great. We must reclaim our rights and live and let live.
